Whatever you want to learn, Britannia has the course for you – whether you simply want to progress in your career, take your life in a new and exciting direction, or want to make more of a hobby or interest, we can help you get where you want to go.
KEEPING YOUR OPTIONS OPEN
The Home Study option will be of particular interest to parents whose children are in the local education system and wish to enhance their full time study with additional qualifications, we offer tuition and support in a range of GCSE subjects, thus ensuring your children will maintain their choices in subjects which are extremely important, in future career choices*** Examinations and qualifications are not just taken locally, but are also recognized globally as prestigious benchmark qualifications
This type of study is also ideal for those who may have opted out of formal education withoutqualifications, who would welcome the opportunity to acquire recognized qualifications in their own time, and on a flexible basis (Aged 16 and above)
*** The Home Study Option is not intended as an alternative to full time education, but serves as an enhancement to full time studies, whether in the local state system, or an international school.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Home study is truly flexible way to learn. Once you enrol, you will receive your study materials, and be assigned both a personal tutor with Britannia School , and an e tutor in the UK . Your personal tutor will take you through your studies, and help you devise a personal study plan, and then meet with you on a regular basis, to suit your personal commitments, to ensure that you are meeting assignment deadlines, and that they are being sent off to be marked on time. Your personal tutor will also discuss any problems or worries you have.
Once you have completed all your assignment successfully, you will be eligible to enrol for the written examination. All the written examinations being offered are with the highly prestigious Edexcel examination board, and Britannia School is an accredited Centre, so you will be able to take your exams locally, in Los Cristianos**

CHILDCARE AND EARLY YEARS
Good, reliable childcare is still hard to find locally here in Tenerife, and Britannia School firmly believes that there are many career possibilities to be discovered with the provision of fully recognized, quality qualifications from lead bodies in the UK
For parents who wish to pursue their careers and lives on the island, the most important thing for them will be to place their children with carers who understand, appreciate and adopt the highest standards of care and attention in the hours that their children are away from them, knowing that they will be looked after in a caring, nurturing and loving environment.
With this in mind, Britannia School are joining hands with both the National Extension College and CACHE (Council for Awards in Child Care and Education) to pilot a series of studies and exams which will offer our local community new and exciting opportunities within the world of Childcare and PreSchool work.
These will include
Business Skills for Care and Early Years
An essential course for anyone currently running a care or child care business who wishes to develop their business skills further.
Introduction to Childminding
If you are thinking of starting your own Childminding business this will give you the underpinning knowledge needed, and an insight into the rules, laws and other criteria necessary to become a registered childminder
Certificate in Playwork
This course is aimed at anyone working or planning to work in out-of-school childcare including play schemes and after-school clubs. On successful completion of this course you will gain a CACHE Certificate in Playwork, Level 2. You must be prepared to work 60 hours on a voluntary basis to complete this course.
